Profile
I am an IFMGA/UIAGM- and NNMGA-certified mountain guide and adventure photographer based in Nepal with over 15 years of experience in mountaineering and tourism. I have led expeditions to 21 peaks in Nepal including Everest, Lhotse, and Manaslu. As the first Everest summiteer from the Thulung Rai community, I have reached Everest summit three times and hold the distinction of being the first IFMGA-certified guide from the Rai indigenous people of eastern Nepal.
Professional Highlight
I have summited continental high points while guiding clients on Aconcagua (South America), Carstensz Pyramid (Indonesia), multiple Alpine summits (Europe), and Peak Lenin (Central Asia). I also completed the first ascent of Kuksay Peak in China’s Pamir range. In 2022, I served as Sherpa Leader for the Nepal Army’s Everest and Lhotse Expedition, supporting Nepal Government’s Mountain Clean-up Campaign.
As a professional photographer, I have documented expeditions and contributed to national and international film projects, including the 2017 National Geographic film The Last Honey Hunter.
Mountain Guide:
In 2008, Following my childhood dreams I started my career as a porter guide, with each step forward exploring and learning I became a Trekking guide in 2010. With further dedication and relentless hard work, I achieved the prestigious title of IFMGA/UIAGM certified Mountain guide in 2019. Throughout this journey, I have led over 100’s of expedition team (more than 500 clients) in 3000m- 8000m peaks in Europe, Kyrgyzstan and Nepal including Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Manaslu (world’s 1st, 4th and 8th highest mountain in the world)
In 2011, After completion of Basic Mountaineering courses from Nepal Mountaineering and Instructor Association, I had an opportunity to work as a Mountain guide. In the same year, I had an opportunity to guide and climb Mera peak, and till the very date I have Summited Mt. Everest (2 times), Mt. Lhotse (2 times), Mt. Manaslu (3 times), Mera peak (12 times), Island peak (35 times), Lobuche peak (25 times), Mt. Amadablam (5 times), Mt. Himlung (2 times), Mt. Bruntse (2 times), Pisang peak, Chulu east, Abi peak, Pokalde peak, Pharchermo peak in Nepal.
Mountaineering Instructor
After the completion of IFMGA, Diploma Mountain Guide training in 2019 and General Training for Trainers in 2020 from Nepal Mountaineering Instructor Association (NMIA) and Himalayan Climbing and Mountaineering school, I wholeheartedly directed my career to becoming a Mountaineering Instructor.
Since then, I have had the privilege of working closely with renowned organizations in the mountaineering community including Nepal Mountaineering Instructor association (NMIA), Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA), and Nepal Mountain Academy (NMA). These experiences have allowed me to share my knowledge and expertise to the new generation of trekking guides and Mountaineering aspirants. My teaching areas encompass Navigation, Mountain Rescue, and Rock-climbing courses.
Adventure Photography:
My Photography journey began in 2014, I didn’t have much experience but I quickly learner and practiced during treks and expeditions by taking photos of my clients and beautiful mountains.
In 2015, after the deadly earthquake in Nepal, me along with my friends initiated a relief project. During this project, I took on the responsibility of documenting photos and videos to capture the experiences of the affected people and communities.
In 2016, I was privileged to guide a National Geographic documentary team working on “The Last Honey Hunter” along with Renan Ozturk and Ben Ayers. The incredible experience not only familiarized me with professional equipment but also provided a unique opportunity to learn from seasoned industry professionals.
In 2018, I once again had the honor of working as a guide and photographer with national geographic team on “Mustang photo Story” project. Additionally, in 2017, I worked as a photographer for the projects, including “No barrier USA”, “Art on the roof of the world” and “Mothered by Mountains”. In 2022, I had the responsibility of working as a safety and technical guide/supporter in the internal documentary film “Hunting Nepal’s Mad Honey That Makes You Hallucinate- Honey hunters.” Produced by Yes Theory. In 2023, I had the privilege of working as a photographer and videographer for the Double Amputee Everest Expedition team.
